Tampa, FL – 13 December 2024 – The Tropical Rugby Academy will launch at the 2025 TROPICAL 7s, providing a unique opportunity for youth rugby players to enhance their skills, undergo training, and have the opportunity to compete at the Tropical 7s tournament in Tampa, Florida, North Americas's largest rugby festival, over Easter week in April 2025.
For the 2025 Tropical 7s, the Tropical Rugby Academy invites individual athletes worldwide at U18 Boys & U18 Girls levels to come together in a truly unique team environment, combining a high-quality rugby experience that includes elite-level coaching, competitive tournament play as well as a unique cultural experience. Plans are underway for the Academy to broaden its scope to include other age groups and participate in other international tournaments in the future.

How to Apply
The Tropical Rugby Academy is now accepting applications for U18 Boys & Girls players born on or after June 1, 2006. Players must be registered with their home rugby union and be able to obtain any necessary player clearances to play at the Tropical 7s. The 2025 program offers a full itinerary, including five nights of accommodation, training sessions, all meals, tournament participation and much more. The Academy aims to create a mix of players from different nationalities and backgrounds and harnessing the value of a unique collaborative rugby experience.
Itinerary :
Tuesday, April 15th 2025: Arrivals and attend NHL ice hockey game
Wednesday 16th & Thursday 17th April 2025: Training sessions, pre-tournament preparation, beach visit, participation in the Tropical 7s Athlete Combine
Friday 18th & Saturday 19th April 2025: Competition days at the Tropical 7s Tournament
Sunday, 20th April 2025: Visit to Busch Gardens Theme Park anddepartures.

Ground transport including airport pickups from Tampa International Airport (on Tuesday 15th April), airport drop-offs (on Sunday 20th April), transport between hotel and fields for training and matches, and transport for any off-field activities.

Team tent at the fields (Thursday - Saturday) to provide cover from the sun during the tournament.
