The 2025 TROPICAL 7s will take place on 18-19 April 2025 and will return to the Tampa Sportsplex, Florida, USA. Team registration for the 2025 tournament is now open and the online registration link can be found HERE.
The TROPICAL 7s is North America’s premier and largest rugby festival featuring 200+ teams. The 2024 event was the most successful event to date and demand for team places will be higher than ever for 2025. The tournament will have an overall capacity of 200 teams with caps on team numbers for each individual division. Age grades, divisions, and competition format will be similar to 2024, with the addition of a U18 Boys ‘Development’ division to provide a competition option for those relatively new to rugby (in addition to Elite & Open divisions). This follows the successful inclusion of the U18 Girls "Development' division in 2024. A single club will only be allowed to register 1 team per division unless otherwise agreed with tournament organisers.
Team registration will be on a first-come first-serve basis - and teams will not be allowed to hold or reserve places in any division. All divisions are available for immediate registration except the Senior Men’s Elite and Senior Women’s Elite teams, which will need to contact the tournament with their interest in advance by emailing info@tropical7s.com, in order to receive a registration code to complete the online registration. Team registration is only guaranteed once payment of the team registration fee and all team, player, and coach compliance requirements have been satisfied - see HERE for further details.
The tournament accommodation partner EventConnect offers discounted hotel rates that have been negotiated with 20+ hotels in the Tampa area that can be viewed HERE. The EventConnect system guarantees the best available group rate for the dates and room type being offered and ensures your team’s accommodation bookings integrate seamlessly with the team registration platform. Teams can make accommodation bookings as long as they are registered for the tournament. Rooms can be held without charge for up 10 days and a small deposit is required to confirm the booking - please refer to the booking and cancellation terms for each individual property. Keep an eye out for holiday rentals to be added to the extensive hotel inventory over the next couple of months. Given the busy time of year, teams are urged to book their accommodation as early as possible
For the 2025 tournament, team registration fees across all divisions are standardised at $750 dollars per team. The team registration fee can be paid online at the point of registration. Teams wishing to pay for team registration by other methods (e.g. cheque/bank transfer/other digital payment methods) must ensure funds are transferred within 10 working days of registering their team. If payment is not received by this deadline, the team's registration will be cancelled along with any hotel reservations, and the division spot will be made publicly available or offered to the next team on the waitlist (if the division is full). The final closing date for registrations is Friday 28 March 2025. As the number of available team spots in each division is capped, divisions are expected to 'close-out' much earlier than the final registration date. For the 2024 tournament, several divisions were full by the end of the previous calendar year, so it is recommended to register early to ensure a spot at the 2025 competition. Once a division has reached its maximum quota of teams, the division will move to ‘waitlist’ status (see the latest division status found HERE). Teams must still register online in order to be placed on a division’s waitlist although no payment will be taken from the team at this stage. If and when a space becomes available in that division, waitlisted teams will be contacted according to the order they registered and asked to confirm their registration ASAP along with payment of the team registration fee.
