It will be the 4th edition of the Tropical 7s – or Tropical Rugby International Youth Sevens -- which saw 110 teams come to Florida to play in April 2019 representing 6 different countries. The 2020 Tropical 7s is expected to see an increase number of participating countries and a cap on the number of sides in each division, and teams are advised to sign up early to secure their spots.
The Tropical 7s will once again be a tour stop for the prestigious NAHS7s (North American High School 7s Series), an annual championship with top elite youth teams for both boys and girls. The top teams from across North America will be mixed alongside international teams to form a truly unique competition as part of the U18 Elite Divisions.
Demand is expected to be high for a 2020 with likely wait-list status for most divisions. The event will once again take place over the Easter holiday week, and teams are invited to arrive early to set up training camp as well as take part in the many leisure, tourism and social activities abundant in the area.
The tournament is open for teams from around the globe for boys and girls at U18, U16, U14 and University/U23 age brackets. It is targeted for high-level and internationally focused Olympic rugby sevens and welcomes clubs, schools and select sides to compete in both open and elite divisions.

The tournament takes place at the stunning Omni Orlando Championsgate Resort, which features an on-site sport complex with professionally maintained fields that ensures perfect playing conditions along with guaranteed warm weather -- all located in the heart of Florida’s world-class tourist attractions.
“The Tropical 7s saw a huge demand this past year and we had our biggest and best year to date,” said Tropical 7s Executive Director John Siner. “We are already being contacted by teams from around the world about 2020 which is shaping up to be a truly great competition. Thanks to being a stop on the NAHS7s series, we see the highest level of youth rugby competition, with many colleges and scouts on-site looking to identify the upcoming generation of talent. We are excited to open registration and invite youth and university teams from around the world to join us in Florida for a unique combination of great international rugby alongside a fantastic tourism experience.”
